Lice Policy

A person checks a child's hair, with a magnified image of a louse in a speech bubble.

SENSE charter school follows a No Lice/ No Nit policy. In the event live lice or nits are found on your child, they will need to be picked up from school and follow these steps and procedures before their return:

  1. Student must receive a Lice treatment
  2. All nits must be combed out
  3. Student may not ride the bus upon return date
  4. Student must be sent to the Nurse’s office upon arrival to school to be checked while the guardian waits to see if approved or not.

It is very important to follow these steps to ensure your child is rid of lice. We advise you to also treat anyone in the household that you suspect may have lice, wash all bed linens/ stuffed animals and clean or dispose of all hair utensils used during the suspected time of Lice to ensure that reoccurrence does not happen. If you have any questions or concerns regarding getting rid of lice or the treatment process, please call 317-423-0204.
